Burgoyne Surrounded is stitched on Lapin Loops 28 count Tea. Earl Grey. Hot. Linen (I love the appropriateness of using a linen died with tea for this piece!) using just three DMC colors, it has a stitch count of 130x130. This patriotic design is based on the quilt block pattern Burgoyne Surrounded or Burgoyne's Surrender which is said to refer to one of the most pivotal events in the American Revolution. The surrender of the British to the Americans in their attempt to control the Hudson River in 1777. The British, led by General Burgoyne, were surrounded by American troops and forced to surrender at Albany, New York. In this rendition blue is used to represent the Americans and red the British, with gold used for accent.
